Desmond Kevin Howard (born May 15, 1970) is an American former football player. Howard was known mostly as a return specialist but also played wide receiver. He is now a college football analyst for ESPN.
He played college football for the Michigan Wolverines from 1989 to 1991, winning the Heisman Trophy in his final season. He was selected fourth overall in the 1992 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins, and later played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders, and Detroit Lions. With the Packers in 1996, Howard was voted the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XXXI after returning a kick return for a touchdown, making him the only special teams player to do so. Howard was inducted into College Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
